We need your support now more than ever.

Help us raise funds to ensure that National Centre for Writing and our home at Dragon Hall is open to all members of the community, for years to come.

With your support we can transform our local communities, inspire children and young people, platform new voices and provide essential tools and advice to writers of all backgrounds.

Whether it’s through a small one-off donation or by joining a membership scheme, your support will ensure that our creative programmes and Grade I-listed heritage campus are open for the public to enjoy and are protected for future generations.

Be a part of the story

Changing the Story is NCW’s bold and ambitious campaign to raise funds towards supporting artists from all backgrounds, inspiring children and young people, commissioning exciting new writing, and preserving the historic Dragon Hall.

Philanthropy is vital to NCW’s success and the difference we can make locally and across the world.

Donate today and you will help us to:

Support artists from all backgrounds

We support 334 talented writers and translators each year with their development through programmes such as Escalator. Your gift can help to ensure that we can continue to remove barriers to writing, increase career opportunities and make sure that bookshelves reflect the full diversity of voices in our society.

Inspire children and young people

We engage over 1,000 children, young people, and families each year in activities at Dragon Hall, community, and schools’ settings. Your gift can support the continuation of the family activities, Young Norfolk Writing Competition, Norfolk Laureate, creative writing workshops and much more.

Commission exciting new work, locally and internationally

Through programmes like our City of Literature strand of Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Stories From the Quarter, we commission 130 pieces of new work each year from local and international writers and translators. Your donation with support the creation of this work and will allow us to bring artists to Dragon Hall and Norwich UNESCO City of Literature.

Preserve Dragon Hall and protect it for future generations

With over 600 years of trading and social history, our extraordinary Grade I-listed medieval heritage building is also a literary house, writers and translators’ residency space, events venue and community hub that is open for the public to enjoy. Your support helps to ensure the witches’ marks, dragons and king posts are preserved, and that this vital piece of Norwich’s history remains accessible to everyone for years to come.

The foresight of our current benefactors and donors has helped us to build the National Centre for Writing and secure the future of Dragon Hall so far. Can you help us to continue the story?
