Worlds 2018: Why We Write

Worlds is a literary symposium hosted by the National Centre for Writing in Norwich. Since its inception in 2004 the event has welcomed writers of prose fiction, journalism and memoir, biographers, poets and translators from a range of traditions, contexts and countries to take part in round-table debate, listen to and talk with writers and translators and discover the secrets of Norfolk and Norwich, the first UNESCO City of Literature in England.

Worlds 2018 will be hosted by Professor Jon Cook, Emeritus Professor and Director of Creative & Performing Arts at the University of East Anglia. Attendance is by invitation only.

From Worlds

Each year Worlds generates provocations and discussions from outstanding international writers. On the right you’ll find a selection of highlights from previous years.

Worlds 2018 takes place between 11 – 22 June and we will be exploring the theme of Why We Write, here on the website and on social media, at the same time as the symposium is taking place inside Dragon Hall. Be sure to bookmark this page and sign up to the newsletter for the latest updates.
